**If players in the clinic league could bring a baked good to sell for March Madness.   You can drop off your delicious treats before your childs game or anytime on Saturday or Sunday.  Thanks so much!

March Madness is Saint Ann CYO Basketball Programs major fundraising event.  It has been a huge success through the years due to the parents and coaches that donate their time.  We have been able to keep our operating costs to a minimum because of this event.  We ask that each family donate at least 2 hours of their time to help run this event.  I have placed the Final Schedule and sign up sheet in the front hall of PJPII School.  If you are in the area you can sign up directly or you can email your preference for time and event volunteering to Patti.Connolly@FNS.USDA.gov (kitchen help), Melissa Graham mjhowardgraham@aol.com (facepainting) or saintannreled@gmail.com.  Click on the links below to open the Kitchen sign up sheet and the Face painting sign up sheet.

**Basketball Banquet, Saturday, April 10th  11am – 1:30pm @ Florian Hall
If players in the house and travel leagues could bring a baked good for dessert to the basketball banquet, it will be greatly appreciated!

Thank You!

Congratulations to all the players, parents, wonderful coaches and Commissioner Mike Doyle for another great season!

It is amazing to see so many families participate in the banquet.  Because of the volume of people it is hard to hear everything that is taking place so I thought it would be appropriate to acknowledge the players below who received special recognition from their coaches.

We appreciate City Councilor Maureen Feeney and Neighborhood Liaison Lauren Smyth for handing out special proclamations to our High School Boys team for their undefeated season and CYO State Championship title!

Special thanks to the Leahy and Holloran families who were kind enough to join us as we celebrated the lives of their loved ones and the impact they made on our CYO Basketball program.  Special clocks symbolizing the time Brian, Mike, Joe and Dicky spent with and for the children of our community were given in their memory and beautiful quilts made out of team shirts by Ross Common Quilts on

Fairfax Street
were lovingly bestowed to the families.

And for the extraordinary generosity Mr. Brian Leahy bequeathed upon our CYO Basketball Program.  A total of $8,800 was donated in Mr. Leahy’s memory.  These funds will be used to improve our program.  Fr. Sean recently established a CYO Board and although they have only met once, possibilities included:  hoop extensions to lower the height of the basketball hoops for the clinic players, team benches, scoreboard for other side of the gym, cabinet that locks for equipment and more.

Tom Lynch of The Bostonian Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Center sponsored the Basketball Banquet for a second year! The unbelievable part is that Tom contacted us, we never solicited...he just wants to be a neighborhood friendly business and that he is!  The Bostonian had offered their facility for neighborhood groups to meet and several groups took him up on it, including the Greater Neponset Parks Committee, The Community Grant Writing Committee, Dorchester Substance Abuse Coalition, etc. each hosting monthly, sometimes even weekly meetings at this wonderful facility where Tom's generosity has no end, he always has a friendly and accomodating staff on hand and provides cheese & crackers, fresh fruit and beverages so please consider stopping by and visiting a resident, if you are a Scout leader think about having a meeting at the Bostonian, and Project D.E.E.P. students can get those last minute community service hours in by reading, playing WII or just talking with a resident of The BostonianA large number of the residents were formerly our next door neighbors.  Call Tom Lynch or Pam Hooper for more information 617-265-2350.

MARCH MADNESS

We have not had to raise registration fees in 10 years because of the income March Madness generates but Ellen Maneikis and her team did it for five years as did my team of wonderful mothers and we are looking for some new blood, if no one comes forward we will have to raise fees so please let me know if you are interested in taking this endeavor on ASAP!

Thank You!!
