A STORY TO WARM YOUR HEART

From Cathy Cameron, Neponset Campus

On Wednesday afternoon, May 6, 2009, a lovely woman stopped by the school office and asked to speak to the principal. She introduced herself to me and stated that she had attended St. Ann School as a child as did her son years later. She proudly told me that she was now 82 years old, living in Billerica, and her son was now 59. She sat down and proceeded to tell me that when her son was attending St. Ann’s she began having serious domestic issues.  She found herself in the position of having to go to the “Mother Superior” to withdraw her child because she was unable to pay the tuition. However, she was thrilled to hear from Sister that she did not need to worry about tuition and that all would be taken care of. This wonderful woman never forgot that kindness and had “always held it in her heart.” (She raved about the Sisters of St. Joseph and what they had meant to her and I enthusiastically concurred!) It had always been her goal to repay the kindness and these many years late, she handed me an envelope with a very, very generous donation to our school. I was overwhelmed! And I truly believe that the concept of “paying it forward” will apply as every person I have told this story to, and there have been many, has been touched and hopefully inspired to remember and thank the “angel” in their lives.
