THE CATHOLIC APPEAL WEEKWND

Through the Appeal, we have the opportunity to help our brothers and sisters all throughout our Archdiocese. Giving is a way of answering God’s call to love and share. By doing so, we are not only helping to renew the strength and vitality of our Church, but recognizing a need within ourselves to sacrifice for the Lord. A gift is important, not so much for how much it is, but because of what we become through the act of giving. In this spirit please prayerfully consider a 2010 Catholic Appeal gift.

GRAND Annual Thank you

St. Ann Grand Annual Collection is off to an encouraging start. To date we have received $25,628.50 toward our goal of $30,000.00.  Thank you to those who have been able to make and offering. We rely on the generosity of our parishioners and alumni to help keep our parish programs active and operational. Consider making your gift to the Grand Annual. Envelopes are available at the ushers’ tables if you need one.

Christmas Collection to help fund Care For Senior Priests

The Archdiocese has also lunched a new website to support this Christmas Collection www.CareForSeniorPriest.org which includes a video Christmas message from Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley. The website focuses on the gift our
priests have made to our Catholic community, and offers information about the funding needs for their care, what the Archdiocese is doing to stabilize the important trust, guidance regarding ways to give and materials for parishes to assist in coordinating the annual collection.

IRA Gifts

Special opportunity for IRA gifts available through December 31, 2009.  You could make a gift to Saint Ann Parish, or to another favorite charity, far bigger than you ever thought possible.  The Federal Government will not accesss a tax penalty.  So your retirement funds can go further than ever before.

This is good news for parishioners who want to make a charitable gift during their lifetime, from their retirement assests, but have been discouraged from doing so because of the income tax penelty.

Here's what it takes to qualify for this tax advantage

* Be 70 and a half years or older

*Have a IRA - whether traditional or Roth

* Want to make a charitable gift up to 100,000

* Make the gift by December 31, 2009

For more information and for sample forms to use in making a gift, call Richard Ely at the Catholic Foundation at 617-779-3702 or email Richard_Ely@rcab.org
